Scripps Networks Interactive Expands to India

Scripps Networks Interactive Inc. will acquire a majority stake in NDTV Good Times, India's top-ranked English-language lifestyle television service

Scripps Networks Interactive Inc. (NYSE: SNI) will expand into India by entering into a strategic partnership with the country’s leading broadcaster, NDTV Group.

In addition to operating NDTV Good Times, Scripps Networks Interactive and NDTV Group are contemplating the eventual launch of other lifestyle television channels through the NDTV Lifestyle partnership.

 


Food Network UK is On the Air

Food Network UK launched officially on Nov. 9, 2009

At 11am London time on Nov. 9, Food Network UK signed on the air with a special Chefography of Food Network followed by an episode featuring the famed British chef Nigella Lawson. The new network is available through the BSkyB satellite system and launches into 10 million British households. Scripps Networks Interactive Inc. has identified international expansion as one of its key growth strategies and will launch Food Network in Europe, Africa and the Middle East through a joint venture with Chello Zone.  See full details here.

 


 

Scripps Networks Interactive to Buy
Controlling Interest in Travel Channel

Scripps Networks Interactive Inc. (NYSE: SNI), owner and operator of the Food Network and HGTV lifestyle television networks, will enter into a joint venture with Cox Communications Inc. by which it will acquire a controlling interest in the Travel Channel. The Travel Channel transaction is expected to be completed by or before January 2010.

Scripps Networks has been named to CableFAX The Magazine's Top Places to Work in Cable for three straight years

CableFAX The Magazine cited Scripps Networks as one of its Top Ten Places to Work in Cable for the third consecutive year. "We like Scripps’ 'core values': shared responsibility and promotion of work/life balance. Especially that last core value," the magazine writes in its November 2009 issue.

Cooking Channel. Smith, who has guided Food Network’s creative and brand strategies for the last 10 years, most recently served as senior vice president of marketing for the network during its rapid rise to top 10 stature.
